Electrical Installation Inspection

Inspection and testing of building and factory electrical installations to prevent electric shock and fires.

Why electrical installations must be inspected

Short circuits and overheated connections are among the common causes of fires in buildings and factories. An electrical installation can also shock people when its earthing or protection fails. Inspection and testing checks panels, cables, protective devices, and earthing, then measures the results, so hazards are found before they cause injury or fire.

What we inspect

Generation

Company-owned generators and power plants.

Transmission and distribution

Substations, transformers, main panels, and networks on company premises.

End use

Distribution boards, cables, sockets, lighting, and machine installations.

Voltage threshold

Applies to installations above 50 volts AC or 120 volts DC.

The risks of neglecting it

Fire

Loose connections, overloaded cables, or unsuitable protective devices can start fires.

Electric shock

Poor earthing can leave equipment casings live and dangerous to people.

Equipment damage

Voltage and current faults damage machines and electronics.

Stopped by inspectors

Equipment without a valid certificate can be prohibited from use by labor inspectors, bringing work to a halt.

Inspection and testing schedule

TypeWhen it is done
Before handoverBefore a new installation is handed over to the owner or user.
After changesAfter the installation is changed or repaired.
Periodic inspectionAt least once every year.
Periodic testingAt least once every five years.

Documents to prepare

  • Installation drawings (single-line diagram) and panel layout.
  • Installed power and transformer or generator capacity.
  • Previous certificate and inspection report.
  • Records of changes or additions to the installation.

Site preparation

  • Access to all panels and electrical rooms.
  • The company electrician accompanies the inspection.
  • A short shutdown scheduled if certain tests require it.

Legal basis

  • Law No. 1 of 1970 on Work Safety requires safety conditions for equipment and installations at the workplace.
  • Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 12 of 2015 on Electrical OHS at the Workplace, as amended by Regulation No. 33 of 2015. Article 11 requires inspection at least once a year and testing at least once every five years.
  • Inspection and testing may be carried out by an Electrical OHS Expert at a PJK3 (Article 10).

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between inspection and testing?

Inspection checks the condition and compliance of the installation, at least once a year. Testing involves measurements, such as insulation resistance and earth resistance, at least once every five years.

Does the power have to be switched off?

Most inspection is done without a shutdown. If a particular test needs one, we schedule it with you.

Is the lightning protection checked too?

Lightning protection is regulated separately and inspected every two years. Both can be scheduled together.

Send us your installed power, number of panels, and installation drawings if available through the quote form. Our team will prepare an inspection schedule.
